Stresses on the importance of employee welfare
SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday stressed for focussed efforts for enhancing and maintaining state’s forest cover and rich bio-diversity by employing latest innovative technologies available.
He was speaking with Commissioner Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Manoj Dwivedi, who had called on the governor here at Raj Bhavan.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the on-ground progress made by the department in implementation of schemes and projects, an official handout read.
Dwivedi briefed the governor on the afforestation efforts being undertaken in the state for protection and preservation of the state’s green resources. They also held discussions on efforts towards conservation of biodiversity, soil and water conservation besides the steps taken to curb environmental pollution in the state.
Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with Commissioner Secretary Labour & Employment, Saurabh Bhagat, Governor Satya Pal Malik stressed on the importance of employee welfare and urged commissioner secretary to ensure that delays were avoided in resolving the pending issues of the labourers including casual workers.
Bhagat had called on the governor here at Raj Bhavan.
The Secretary briefed the governor about activities and programmes being undertaken by the department in the state. He also informed the governor of special programmes initiated for welfare of labourers, including welfare schemes for building and construction workers, rehabilitation of child and bonded labourers, payment of provident fund, rationalisation, and medical insurance to all government employees.
