‘Families’ of militants killed in Bandipora demand their bodies

SRINAGAR: Three south Kashmir families on Wednesday held a protest demonstration in Srinagar demanding the bodies of the three slain militants killed on 21 September 2018 in Sumular village area of Bandipora district last month.
Scores of family members and relatives from three districts of south Kashmir including Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama assembled here in press enclave and demanded the bodies of their kin.
They accused the government of delaying the legal formalities and demanded the bodies be handed over to them as soon as possible.
Abdul Ahmad Dar of Kangan Pulwama told the Kashmir Reader that Abdul Rashid Lone son of Late Abdul Khaliq Lone, who was killed in an encounter on 22th September is his cousin.
“On September 25, we came to know that he has also been killed in encounter. After that we approached the DC Pulwama and DC Bandipora pleading them to return body of the slain man.” Dar said.
Mir Hussain Bajran, father of slain Farooq Ahmad Bajran of Keller in Shopian district said that his son was also one of the slain five militants.
The family members said that after they approached the DC Bandipora and, DNA samples were taken for identification of the bodies. . “15 Days has passed and we are stilling waiting for the DNA report. We demand the bodies of our kin.” They said.
