Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) led by Yasin Malik Wednesday slammed the authorities over the arrest of its leaders – Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and others, and said “the detention of pro-freedom leaders during civic polls is ridiculous and condemnable”.
“On Tuesday night, police raided the residence of JKLF zonal president – Noor Muhammad Kalwal and detained him. And on Wednesday morning, the zonal organizer of JKLF – Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri was also taken by the police,” the statement said.
Taking a dig at the authorities over spree of arrests, nocturnal raids and summoning of JKLF leaders in wake of polls, the statement said: “despite these oppressive tactics, a complete boycott of these elections should serve as an eye opener for them.”
Meanwhile JKLF paid tributes to Mushtaq Ahmad Khan on his anniversary. Terming Khan as a gallant son of the soil, the JKLF spokesman in the statement said that “martyrs like him are our real heroes”.
