Govt forces launch cordon in north Kashmir’s Handwara

Baramulla: Government forces on Thursday launched a cordon and search operation in a village in Handwara area of the frontier Kupwara district.

Special operations group (SOG) of police and army in the wee hours today cordoned off Shotgund in Handwara on the inputs about the presence of militants in the village, official sources told Kashmir Reader.

Government forces, witnesses said fired several shots towards the spot where they believe a group of two to three militants are hiding. But the firing has met no response from the other side.
The search operation was underway when this report was filed.
