Encounter fallout: No class work at IUST, other educational institutions in parts of Kashmir

Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday ordered closure of educational institutions in many districts across valley in view of an encounter between militants and government forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In view of the gunfight, the district administration Kupwara ordered closure of educational institutions in the district.

The IUST, Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district will also remain closed on Thursday “in view of apprehensions,” in-charge PRO IUST, Dr Aijaz Qureshi told Kashmir Reader.

“We thought not to take any risk,” he said.

An official said that district administration Pulwama has ordered closure of all educational institutions in the district for Thursday.

Reports of closure of educational institutions are also coming from north Kashmir’s Bandipora.

Authorities in Baramulla have also closed schools and colleges in the district in view of the gunfight that broke out after a CASO was launched in the frontier district of Kupwara this morning.
