Southern Kashmir: 261 votes polled in 16 wards of Anantnag till noon

Srinagar: At least 261 votes have been cast at the polling booths for the 16 wards till 12 noon in Anantnag district on Wednesday.

A total of 38 candidates are in fray for the 16 wards.

Earlier a voter was beaten up by angry youth in Khanabal area of the district.

Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that a group of youth intercepted a voter when he came out of the polling booth established at the Khanabal high school here this morning.

The voter, whose identity is not known, was beaten up by youth for participating in the elections.
