SRINAGAR: Material suppliers from Block Banihal tehsil of Ramban district on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against Rural Development Department demanding the release of their pending liabilities in department.
Scores of Material Suppliers from Banihal assembled here in press enclave and shouted the slogans against Rural Development Department (RDD) for not releasing their pending liabilities.
Altaf Ahmad Bohroo, one of the protestestors from Banihal said that they are are supplying the material to the Rural Development Department (RDD).
“From 2016 to 2018 our liabilities has not been released by the Department. We are nearly 100 material suppliers whose liability is pending in the Department,” Bahroo Said.
“We have Rs 4 crore of pending liabilities with the department, and this year department has released 61 lakh to those material Suppliers, who have personal connection in the Department,” he said.
He added that “we are facing very hardships in our daily life. We did not have any money in our pockets. We cannot pay the school fee of our children.”
The protesters said that they have approached the higher officials from time to time, but said no one is listening to their demand.
The Material suppliers requested the governor to look into the matter and release their pending liabilities.
