Budgam: Government Degree College Magam in collaboration with Mathari Fikri-w-Sakafati Markaz Kashmir organised one-day conference on “Aalmi Insaniyat aur Murkai karbala” on Tuesday.
Prof Ruhi Jan Kath, Principal GDC Magam, formally inaugurated the conference by welcoming the guests, colleagues and students of the college.
Convener of the seminar, Dr. Mohiudin Zore Kashmiri presented aims and objectives of the conference.
Director Colleges, Higher Education Department J&K, Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt in his Inaugural speech throw light on Karbala. “Karbala was not a political war but an “ideological” war and there is a great lesson to learn from it,” he said.
He further stressed on unity among the Ummah. “Despite secretarian odds and ideological differences, we must ignore these differences and stand united to defeat the oppression and the oppressors,” he said.
“The episode of Karbala discusses two ideologies and too personalities, at times when there is need to remember the personalities, there is also need to remember the teachings of Imam Hussain R. A,” he said.
In the second session of the conference, different scholars and experts of Islam, including the students of the college presented presentations and speeches in light of Karbala and Martyrdom of Hussain (RA).
Among the invited guest speakers, Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Gulam Mustafa Wani, Aga Syed Mohammad Razvi, Syed Bashir Kawsar and Gulam Hassan Baba also spoke on the occasion and highlighted different aspects of Karbala and its message for the whole universe.
Prof Gulam Ali Gulazar in his presidential speech built up the overall background of the Karbala in light of humanity, universal teachings and peace and harmony.
