Srinagar: 60 votes have been polled at lone ward of central Kashmir’s Budgam district while 111 at the four wards of south Kashmir’s Kokernag, as the voting for the first phase of polls in the Valley is to end shortly.
60 votes out of 642 have been cast at the lone Budgam municipal committee’s ward 5- Bazar Mohalla till 3 pm, officials told Kashmir Reader. Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party are in direct contest on the lone ward.
Budgam district has a total of 72 wards. However, polling is being held only in one ward, while 26 wards find no candidates and in 45 wards candidates have won elections unopposed.
In the four wards of Kokernag, only 111 votes out of 1662 have been polled till 3:00 pm.
101 votes were cast at polling booth of ward number 5, Wagay Mohalla, 7 for ward number 13 Hangalgund, two votes for ward number 9 Telipora and one for ward number 11 Wani Mohalla.
Only four wards of Kokernag are undergoing polls today while nine other wards are either without a contestant or have candidates elected unopposed.
