Headmistress suspended for ‘thrashing’ student in Bandipora

Bandipora: A school headmistress has been suspended for allegedly thrashing a student in Qazipora area of this north Kashmir district.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that Zonal Education Officer, Quilmuqam M A Khan placed under suspension the headmistress of government middle school Qazipora, a day after she allegedly thrashed a third standard student due to which he was hospitalised.
“It has come to my notice that a student of your school was given corporal punishment. Also, it has been learnt that the student has been hospitalised,” Khan said in an order issued on Saturday.
“Till pending enquiry, you are placed under suspension with immediate effect,” the order adds.
On Saturday, Kashmir Reader reported that an 8-year-old boy Mohmin Nabi, a third standard student of Government School Qazi Pora in Bandipora district was brought to the district hospital by his parents in an injured condition.
The students told Kashmir Reader that “the teacher pulled me by both the ears and hanged me for almost 15 minutes and later thrashed me on the floor for whistling in the classroom”.
The doctor had diagnosed him with “history of trauma with abrasion wounds on the posterior aspect of ears due to beating received by the teacher as said by the attendants”.
