DSEK suspends teachers of school found closed during working hours

Seeks explanation, directs for providing alternate staff

SRINAGAR: Taking cognizance of the reports of the closure of one of the schools of Zone Chandanwari, Baramulla, MS Darayan, during the working hours, Director School Education Kashmir Dr G N Itoo has ordered an enquiry and directed the concerned Zonal Education Officer to place both the teachers posted in the school under suspension.
“In compliance of the directions from DSEK, Zonal Education Officer Chandanwari has suspended both the teachers of the school vide order no.: ZEO/2018/828, dated: 06-10-2018 and sought an explanation from them,” an order issued by the DSEK said adding one of the teachers has been attached to BHS Kalsaw.
Meanwhile, Director School Education Kashmir has asked the Chief Education Officer Baramulla to provide the substitute teacher against the attached teacher and also provide additional staff for the smooth functioning of the school.
A video regarding the closure of school at 12 noon and the students waiting outside the closed school went viral on social media on 4 October 2018. The department took a serious note of the issue and put both the teachers under suspension.
Dr G N Itoo has stressed upon all such teachers to do away with such practices and perform their duties with true dedication.
