Ahead of ULB polls, Mirwaiz placed under house arrest

Srinagar: Senior joint resistance leader (JRL) and chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday was placed under house arrest, a day before the state goes to civic polls.

Mirwaiz took to his Twitter handle to slam the curbs imposed by the state to conduct ULB polls.

“Under #House Arrest!Peculiar”Democratic”process of elections“gearing up “as huge deployment of forces, PSAs, incarcerations,house arrests,raids Curbs,internet bans gather momentum! Not to mention the unknown contestants and amused public ! What mockery of democracy is at display!,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
