Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) senior leader and Habba Kadal lawmaker Shameema Firdous on Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and rightwing Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) was behind the killing of her two party workers.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference at her residence in Srinagar, Firdous said that she does not hesitate to say that BJP and RSS killed her workers. “I have no doubt about it,” she said.
Terming the killing of the two party workers as “a well planned conspiracy” to discourage people and National Conference from participating in the assembly elections, Firdous also hit out at Governor Satya Pal Malik and Jammu and Kashmir police for making “false claims” of security arrangements,”. The gunmen came to the locality twice to shoot her party cadres,” news gathering agency GNS quoting her as having said.
She questioned the security arrangements for the ULB polls. “Where was the police? Where were the security checkpoints created? What happened to the assurances of Governor of free, fair and secure polls,” she questioned?
Firdaus broke into tears and said that BJP was going all out to ensure victory in the municipal and local body polls which her party has boycotted over the issue of Article-35A. “They are doing everything to win these polls,” she said.
