SRINAGAR: PHE ITI workers on Thursday held a protest demonstration here on Thursday demanding release of long pending salaries and their regularisation under SRO-520.
Scores of PHE ITI workers assembled at Pratap Park and staged a demonstration against the concerned department.
Chanting slogans the protesters under the banner of All Jammu and Kashmir PHE ITI Workers Association marched towards press enclave while holding black flags, banners and placards which read “Implement SRO-520” and “Release held wages” to register their protest against state administration.
They accused their department of holding their salaries from more than seven months and resorting to dilly-dally tactics over their regularisation under SRO-520.
“We have been working in the department from more than a decade, every now and then the department is failing us despite our regular duties,” the protesters said. They said that their children are being thrown out of schools because of unpaid fee.
The protestors said that the state government should regularize ITI diploma holders working in the PHE department on priority.
One of the protesters, Tariq Ahmad Mashooq said that, “We are facing financial problems from more than last three years and we have been set on back burner by the department. We have been working in the department from more than eleven years and still are awaiting regularisation under SRO-520 as promised by the government,” he said.
The Association members hoped that the Governor administration will solve their long pending demands and help them to get out of this “miserable” situation.
They threated to go for indefinite strike incase their demands are not met at earliest.
