Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik Thursday condemned the assault on a Kashmiri student at Noida and termed it “shameful and disgusting”.
“Kashmiri student Ahtisham was assaulted near Sharda University where he is perusing his education. He was beaten ruthlessly while police were watching silently and in a way abetting the goons,” the JKLF spokesperson said in a statement, quoting Malik who has been detained by the police.
JKLF chairman said that this was not the first time when a Kashmiri faced such assaults. “Kashmiris are being pushed to the wall,” he said. “This situation is very serious and people of Kashmir will no longer sit silent over these attacks on their kith and kin. If Indian authorities failed to stop these attacks, people will be left with no option but to launch a fully-fledged agitation against it.”
Malik in a statement also has paid tributes to Manzoor Ahmad Butt on his anniversary. He (Butt) kept treading the path of struggle and sacrifices as shown by his elder brother – Muhammad Maqbool Butt, he said.
