BUDGAM: A youth from Chadoora has been arrested by police, on alleged involvement in setting ablaze a Panchayat Ghar in Kultrech village on Sep 19.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, Tijinder Singh said that 20-year-old Muzzafar Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohid-din Wani, a resident of Dawlatpora Chadoora boy had “confessed” to his involvement after he had been picked up for questioning.
A Panchayat Ghar had been set ablaze in on September 19, at around 10 pm, in Kultreh Chadoora.
Singh said a case with FIR no 131/2018 u/s 436-RPC, 03 PDPPA was registered in Police Station Chadoora and investigation set into motion.
During the course of investigation, on the basis of different leads, police zeroed in on the suspect Muzzafar.
“On the basis of different evidence collected by police and questioning of the suspect, he agreed to his involvement in setting ablaze the Panchayat Ghar at Kultreh.” Singh said, adding, however, that he did not disclose the details on whose directions he carried out the arson.
“Later on, on the receipt of search warrant from the competent court, police conducted a search in his home from where 3 AK magazines, one pouch and other incriminating material were also recovered,” Singh said adding the investigation of the case is still going on and shall be culminated on merits.”
