Militant seen in threat video nabbed in Sopore

Sopore: Police on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended a local militant who was seen in a video on social media threatening people against participating in Panchayat polls.
A police statement said that Amir Sultan War, son of Mohammad Sultan War resident of Naidkhai Sumbal Bandipora was held during “naka” checking near Hadipora crossing Baramulla-Handwara road.
The statement added that the militant had joined Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit a few days back when his video went viral on social media in which he issued a threat to the people of north Kashmir’ against participation in forthcoming local body polls.
A case has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation taken up, police said.
