Tourism dept organises FAM tour for players of 4th Asian Pencak Silat Championship

SRINAGAR: The Department of Tourism Kashmir on Wednesday organised a familiarisation (FAM) tour for over 200 international players from different countries who participated in the 4th Asian Pencak Silat Championship held in Srinagar. Around 250 players and officials from 10 different Southeast Asian countries participated in the event, which concluded on Wednesday here at Indoor Sports Complex. According to an official handout, the department of tourism took the players to the tour of Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens and also organised a motorboat cruise drive in river Jhelum from Zero Bridge to Safa Kadal in Srinagar. Director Tourism, Tasaduq Jeelani said these international players who visited many tourist locations in Srinagar could be J&K’s ‘future brand ambassadors’, as they will share memorable moments spent in Kashmir with their families and friends, which in turn would attract more tourists from their countries to the state. He said, “Such initiatives go on increasing word of mouth publicity of Kashmir”. He said that the tourism department wants to tap the potential of the South Asian market and “taking these players on FAM tour was the best opportunity to showcase them our landscape”, the handout read.
