SRINAGAR: A match winning knock of 61 runs by Sarfaraz helped Government Degree College Baramulla to register a thumping eight wicket victory over GDC Pulwama and cruise into semis of 12th Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tournament match played Islamia College ground here on Wednesday.
Fielding first after winning the toss GDC Pulwama put a decent total of 168 runs on the board in the stipulated 25 overs. Middle order batsman Yawar was the main contributor to the scoreboard scoring run a ball 48 and down the order Zahoor Ahmad provided some fire works by scoring quick fire 30 off just 20 balls.
For GDC Baramulla, Yawar was the pick of the bowlers claiming three wickets , Jehangir Ahmad also bagged two wickets.
In pursuit of 169 run target, GDC Baramulla achieved the set target inside 17.02 overs.
For GDC Baramulla Sarfaraz played sensible knock 61 runs , Tajamul supported him well and scored run a ball 42 run. For GDC Pulwama, Shafat and Adil took a wicket each.
Tajamul of GDC Baramulla was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round performance.
The tournament is organised by the Department of Physical Education of Islamia College of Science and Commerce in memory ex principal of the college late Prof Mohammad Yousuf.
