Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday said it is prerequisite to convey a strong message to the world community that we (Kashmiris) are not power hungry, and “despite all odds strive for our basic and fundamental rights”.
“Since 1947 we have rendered unparalleled sacrifices in the form of killings, detention and harassment. New Delhi has failed to suppress our emotions despite using all policies,” Geelani said in a telephonic address to the mourners of slain militants killed in south Kashmir, according to the statement.
Paying rich tributes to slain, Geelani in a statement said, “Our youth lay their lives for right to self-determination. We will never allow any body to barter with the precious blood of martyr. We need to be aware of this and we are duty bound to safeguard their sacrifices and should desist from such activities which may prove harmful for our movement.”
The Hurriyat chairman said we need to strengthen our faith, avoid miss deeds and nourish the Islamic culture in our homes and society.
The pro-freedom leader urged people to boycott upcoming elections and asked them to exhibit steadfastness. “Indian authorities are misleading world community by portraying people’s participation in elections as a verdict in their favour,” Geelani said.
