J&K police apprehend LeT militant in Sopore during naka checking

Sopore: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a local militant during naka in Sopore outskirts.

Police in a statement said that a local militant was held during naka checking at Baramulla-Handwara road near Hadipora crossing.

The statement added that the militant had joined Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit few days back when his video went viral on social media in which he was seen giving threats to the people of North Kashmir and asked them not to participate in the forthcoming Local Bodies and Panchayat elections.

A case has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation taken up, the statement said.

Station House Officer of the Dangiwacha police station confirmed to Kashmir Reader that the militant had been arrested.

The arrested militant has been identified as Amir Sultan War son of Mohammad Sultan War resident of Naidkhai Sumbal Bandipora.
