AWANTIPORA: Two Day National Workshop on “Innovative Teaching Strategies in Nursing Education” concluded at IUST Campus, Awantipora.
The event was organised by Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCN&MT), Awantipora – a constituent college of IUST.
The inaugural session of the workshop was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Mushtaq A Siddiqi. Among others who attended the inaugural session include cardiologist Dr Khursheed Aslam, Prof Abdul Salam Bhat, Dean School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Prof Khurshid A Tarzan, Dean of Students, Prof A H Moon, Dean School of Engineering & Technology, Prof Farooq Ahmad Mir, Registrar, Reyaz Rufai, University Librarian, Sameer Wazir, Finance Officer, Dr Mehmooda Regu, Principal Madr-e-Maherbaan Institute of Nursing Sciences & Research College of Nursing SKIMS. During the inaugural session, Asmat Parveen, Principal SMMCN&MT gave an overview including achievements of the college since its inception.
The faculty, staff of IUST and nursing college were awarded with trophies and certificates during the inaugural session.
Roohi Amin and Fehmeeda Mehmood were awarded as best teachers of the year. Among the students, Syed Laraiab and Syed Nazar-un-Nisa were awarded for being 1st and 2nd toppers respectively.
From IUST, Dr S Iqbal Quraishi, Dy Registrar, Mursheed Ahmad Khan, Deputy Finance Officer, Dr Aijaz Ahmad Qureshi, Private Secretary to Vice Chancellor, were awarded for their contribution in establishment of Alamdaar Memorial College of Nursing & Medical Technology (AMCN&MT), Charar-i-Sharief and Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCN&MT), Awantipora – both constituent colleges of IUST.
The first Annual Day 2018 “Souvenir” was also released by the Vice Chancellor in presence of the participants.
Speakers during the two-day event include Prof Pity Koul, Former Director & Coordinator, School of Health Sciences, Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Prof Manju Chuggani, Dean School of Nursing and Allied Sciences, Jammia Hamdard, New Delhi, Prof Suresh K Sharma, Dean College of Nursing, AIIMS, Dehradun, Prof Davinder Koul, Principal Ratan College of Nursing, Mohalli Punjab. The event was attended by faculty and students from institutions and colleges both within and outside the Valley.
Each lecture of the experts was followed by group activity and discussions. At the end, there was interactive session among the resource persons and participants from different nursing colleges across India.
During the valedictory session, mementos and certificates were distributed among speakers, participants and organisers of event.
