Srinagar: Mian Qayoom is set to be elected for the 20th time as President of the J&K High Court Bar Association. No one is standing against him.
Today was the deadline for withdrawal of nomination forms for the Bar president’s election, but as no one except Qayoom had filed nomination, the deadline passed with Qayoom staying as the sole candidate.
The voting by the Bar’s executive body members is slated for October 4, but it will only be a formality.
“October 1 was the last date for scrutiny and withdrawal of forms,” an official of the Bar election team said.
The election body has received two forms for the post of vice-president, though, from advocates Ajaz Ahamd Bedar and Mushtaq A Dar.
For the post of general secretary, two nominations have been filed, by advocates GN Shaheen and M Ashraf Bhat.
For joint secretary, three nominations from advocates Adil Asmi, Ajaz A Dar and Bilal Ahmad Bhat have been received.
For post of treasurer, three nominations have been received, from advocates Bilal Ahmed Wani, Sameer Ahmad Wani and Surat Shakeel Batkoo.
