Northern Army commander arrives in Kashmir

Srinagar: Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh arrived in Kashmir on Sunday to review the security situation. Accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt, the Northern Army Commander visited hinterland formations in north and central Kashmir and was briefed by the commanders on ground about the current situation.
A defence spokesperson said that Lt Gen Singh complimented the troops for their recent successes and commended them for their dedication to duty and high standards of professionalism. “He was appreciative of the measures and Standard Operating Procedures instituted by the units and formations to minimise civilian causalities,” the spokesman said in a statement.
He added that the commander stressed on the need to be prepared for effectively meeting emerging security challenges.
