SRINAGAR: State Mission Director, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Vir Ji Hangloo, on Saturday chaired a meeting at Jammu to review the functioning of the ICDS project.
The meeting was attended by the District Programme Officers, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Deputy Director ICDS Jammu and Child Development Project Officers of various districts of Jammu division.
On the occasion, the Mission Director stressed on effective implementation of various child welfare schemes under ICDS like Adolescent Girls, PoshanAbhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) and Aadhaar enrolment in ICDS blocks.
It was also directed that procurement and distribution of nutrition items be made at an earliest. A target of 15 beneficiaries per Anganwadi worker was fixed and all Child Development Project Officers were instructed to adhere to directions.
The Mission Director also emphasised upon the importance of regular field visits to Anganwadi centres for effective implementation of the schemes at gross root level. Besides, it was also impressed that awareness programmes shall be organised in far-flung areas of the projects so that the benefits of all such schemes could reach to maximum population.
He instructed that verification of ICDS beneficiaries be done in all Anganwadi centres so that only the genuine and deserving beneficiaries could avail the benefits of the schemes.
