JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma on Saturday reviewed the status of Jammu smart city project here at a meeting of senior officers of concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, Director I&C, Dr R S Sharma, Chief Engineer M&RE, Sudhir, DDP tourism Subash Chander, DDP Floriculture Priti Agarwal, besides senior functionaries of concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner apprised the Div Com that all the components have been incorporated in the draft Smart City proposal and new suggestions will also be included in due course of time.
To make the Jammu city more attractive, it was informed that special focus has been laid on the smart components which will encourage consistency in urban design and signage, while recognising the importance of the existing historical architecture and the distinctive character within the community.
The meeting also discussed other components of smart city project including urban mobility, urban environment, disaster management, intelligent traffic management, cycle tracks, smart poles, smart bus stops, smart bins, smart waste management, flood mitigation, earthquake resilience, smart fire protection, emergency response, non-polluting public transport, urban design moves and other components in detail.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that they a web portal will be developed for smart utility management. He informed that they will also make command control system for all utilities on a single platform. It was informed that there is need of Project Management Consultants for smart city project.
The Div Com stressed on development of green spaces, trade promotion centres, rehri zones, cultural and folk centres, development of play grounds.
He asked the concerned agencies to make wish list for finalising draft of Smart City project. He asked the concerned to submit necessary changes and information to his office. He asked to develop inter department coordination for the development of smart city project.
