Bandipora: BJP General State Secretary Ashok Koul said on Sunday that he will expose proxy candidates fielded by two major regional parties National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming municipal and local body polls.

Koul made these remarks during a programme at Bandipora BJP office to “boost the morale and give the candidates in the fray some camping tips in the fray.”

He said that “a number of nominees from the parties are contesting the Urban and Local Body elections as independent proxies”, stating that the BJP will expose these candidates in various Districts including Kupwara and Bandipora. “In Kupwara a son of MP is contesting elections also which is not good,” he said.

He said that all 17 candidates in Bandipora are contesting for 17 wards and in Sumbal 11 candidates are contesting for 13 Wards. He said that BJP was in the fray to win these elections.

He said that in Kargil PDP and NC parties fielded their candidates, they didn’t see any problem there.

“The symbols of those parties boycotting elections should be seized as they were a hindrance for a democratic set up,” he said.

He even said that due to a threat created in Hajin town due to which there is an atmosphere of terror we have fielded four nominees as Independent candidates and haven’t given them a party symbols.

An official said that the four BJP nominees for Hajin Municipality elections submitted nominations in Bandipora.
