Slain Budgam militant laid to rest in native village

Budgam: Thousands of people attended the funeral of slain militant Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat at his native village Kralwari in central Kashmir’s Budgam district Thursday evening.
People from adjoining villages of Budgam of Pulwama district joined the funeral of Sheeraz who was killed along with his associate in a gunfight with government forces in Panzan village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.
The mourners, including men, women and children thronged the native village of Sheeraz and raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
After the funeral, Sheeraz was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in Budgam on Friday, even as people thronged Sheeraz’s home to offer condolences to the family.
On Thursday a gunfight broke between militants and government forces in Panzan village of Chadoora which continued for ten hours and concluded with the killings of two militants.
The second militant killed in the gunfight was identified as an ex-SPO, Irfan Ahmad Dar – a resident of Nihama Pulwama.
