BUDGAM: Under the ongoing campaign of ‘Swachtta Hi Seva’, ADDC Budgam Khursheed Ahmad Sanai on Friday inaugurated a painting competition to promote sense of cleanliness/sanitation among the students in the central Kashmir district.
Scores of students both boys and girls from 17 blocks of the district participated in the competition held at Bihisht Zehra Park in Budgam.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC said that the painting competition is part of the ongoing Swachhta campaign being carried out across the district.
He said such activities would help in creating responsible citizens and inculcate sense of cleanliness among our students.
The ADDC said the aim of such competitions is to spread the message that we all must keep our roads, drains, public places including tourist spots and all other surroundings clean, for the healthy society.
Terming public cooperation as must for the success of the cleanliness mission, he urged students and SHGs to be part of the drive and take it to every household in their respective vicinities.
He said that major focus is being given on cleaning of water bodies, parks, roads, schools, hospitals and colleges during the fortnight programme. Till date under the campaign, cleanliness drives at village, block and district levels have been done along with painting competitions.
He said the first three winners would be selected to participate in the state level painting competitions.
Among others, Chief Education Officer Abdul Rouf Shahmiri, DEPO Farooq Ahmad Raina, District Panchayat Officer Hilal Ahmad Mir and teachers from various schools were present on the occasion.
