Shutdown in Kashmir against civilian killing in Srinagar

Srinagar: Shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley on Friday against the killing of a youth in Srinagar during a forces operation on Thursday.

The protest shutdown call was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik against the killing of Saleem Malik during a CASO in Noorbagh area of Srinagar.

Commercial establishments, shops and educational institutions are closed in capital city Srinagar while public transport, except private vehicles, is off the roads.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in many downtown parts of Srinagar to thwart protests.

Reports of shutdown have also been received from other district headquarters of the valley.
