Mirwaiz urges Labour party to adopt pro-Kashmir policy

Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged the leaders at the annual Labour party conference held in UK to uphold the international law and intervene into human rights violations in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz addressed the conference over phone said the statement issued here on Thursday.
The Labour party can play a crucial role as opposition, Mirwaiz said, to impress upon British government to raise Kashmir issue. He appealed to the Labour party officials to adopt a pro-Kashmir policy and “not be influenced by New Delhi’s hegemony to subvert the inalienable right to self-determination the people of Kashmir demand as promised by the United Nations”.
Mirwaiz also acknowledged the initiatives taken by Prof Shawl – chairman of South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and Barrister A Majid Tramboo of International Commission for Human Rights (ICHR) for pushing the Kashmir cause at international level.
