Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday strongly condemned the killing of an innocent civilian, Muhammad Saleem Malik, at Noorbagh area of Srinagar and three militants in other areas of Kashmir by government forces on Thursday.
Paying rich tributes to Muhammad Saleem Malik and the two armed youths killed in Panzath in Budgam and another armed youth in Dooru Islamabad, the JRL called it a “fresh wave of selective genocide of Kashmiri youth”.
In their joint statement, the JRL leaders also condemned the spree of arrests of resistance leaders in the name of creating a secure environment for civic polls. The JRL also condemned the frequent CASOs, cordon and search operations, conducted by government forces across Kashmir, especially in south Kashmir.
The JRL called for a complete shutdown and public protests on September 28, Friday.
The JRL said that on the one hand the “drama” of holding civic polls is being “enacted”, which is actually a massive military operation, and on the other hand massive crackdown is being launched on the resistance leadership by slapping on them PSA (Public Safety Act) detention orders and lodging them in Jammu prisons.
The leadership asserted that creating a fear psychosis and then holding polls under the barrel of the gun was not going to yield anything for the Government of India, as the people of Kashmir are committed to the goal of freedom and have already rejected the election “bogey”.
The JRL said that feeling frustrated by the commitment of people towards the right to self-determination, New Delhi and its forces in Kashmir are resorting to open aggression which includes killing and maiming innocent people of Kashmir.
The leadership said that the stubborn approach of New Delhi towards the historic Kashmir dispute has resulted in further deterioration of the situation in Kashmir.
