J&K Grameen Bank celebrates ‘Swachhta Hi Seva programme’

JAMMU: To mark the 4th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission (SWM), Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department of J&K Grameen Bank in collaboration with NABARD conducted 195 ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programmes across the state in various villages of districts Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba, Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara.
On the 13th day of this Abhiyaan, Chairman Janak Raj Angural along with General Manager Romesh Vaid, departmental heads and all the officials of Head Office took initiative to clean the surroundings in order to spread the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. He emphasized on taking efforts to make India clean and green before the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
He told the media that the bank is contributing its maximum possible to spread awareness regarding sanitation and hygiene and to make the environment clean and green adding that 216 Swachhta Hi Seva programmes have been conducted in a span of 13 days by the various branches and offices of the bank, an official handout read.
He stressed on cleanliness as “clean and green India will increase international tourism in the country which will strengthen the Indian economy leading to development of the country.”
General Manager, J&K Grameen Bank Romesh Vaid imparted knowledge regarding better sanitation practices like using a toilet, handwashing, health and hygiene awareness, etc. The activities including cleaning of streets, drains and back alleys and waste collection drives in households and common or shared spaces are also conducted during the programmes, it further read.
He also said that the bank was making efforts to aware people about the benefits of clean surroundings and how it would improve our health. “Officials of the bank are organising awareness camps on regular basis and also keeping their premises clean and green,” he added.
HOD, Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department, J&K Grameen Bank, Vipan Gupta said every branch of J&K Grameen Bank is conducting ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ programme in their respective villages from 15th September 2018 to 2nd October 2018, spreading awareness regarding the importance of clean environment and the various ways by which the surroundings could be kept clean and green, the handout read.
216 branches and offices have conducted Swachhta Hi Seva Programmes till date and on Thursday 9 branches and offices have conducted such programmes at various locations including Head Office Jammu, branches namely: Rajbagh, Raya, Phallain, Bhawani, Sialsui and Chandak in Jammu Region and Tangmarg and Tilgam in Kashmir region, it added.
