Hizb militant’s brother among three arrested in south Kashmir

Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested three people, including brother of an active Hizbul Mujahideen militant on charges of being over-ground workers of the outfit from south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Anantnag districts.

Danish Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone of Brah Bandinah, Awantipora and Raja Ilyas, son of Ghulam Mohammad Makroo of Arwani Anantnag were e on basis of credible inputs, a police spokesperson in a statement issued here this evening said.

The police spokesman claimed to have recovered incriminating material including huge amount of cash was recovered from them.


Ahmad is the brother of active militant Adnan Lone.

“Police has registered a case. Preliminary investigation suggests that the duo were planning to carry out attacks in the area,” the spokesperson said.

In another incident, Awantipora police on a specific tip-off arrested Irshad Ahmad, son of Abdul Khaliq Malla of Kranzbal Tral.

“Huge quantity of incriminating material linked to militant outfits was seized from his possession. Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and further investigation is in progress,”. the spokesperson said
