Shopian: Unknown persons late last night attempted to set ablaze the house of an active militant in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, sources said on Thursday.

Locals told Kashmir Reader that the incident took place at around 3 am during night at Maldair village of Shopian.

“When flames appeared in the house of Ghulam Mohammad Paul, the father of Adil Ahmad, locals of Maldfair reached the spot, doused off the flames and rescued the family,” local sources wishing anonymity said.

Adil is an active militant of the area, they said.

Witnesses said that the house suffered partial damage in the incident.

Locals alleged government forces of attacking militant houses.

It is worth mention that two houses of active militants were set ablaze allegedly by forces in the same south Kashmir district last month.
