Omar urges Punjab CM to ensure security of Kashmiri students

Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday reacting to reports that a Kashmiri student was attacked at a university in Mohali, urged Punjab Chief Minister to intervene and take necessary steps to ensure security of the students.
“I request Punjab CM @capt_amarinder Sahib to kindly look in to this matter urgently and take the necessary steps to reassure the students who have left their home state of J&K to study in Adesh & other institutes in Mohali,” Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
The NC VP was reacting to a tweet by student activist Shehla Rashid which read, “Kashmiri student Masroor Ahmed who is a fresher at Adesh Institute, Mohali was attacked while fetching water. Students describe it as attempt to murder and have gone on strike.”
