New Delhi: In view of the disinvestment policy, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the transfer of Incomplete Project of Hotel Gulmarg Ashok, at Gulmarg to the J&K government.
As per its disinvestment policy the Government of India has decided to lease the India Tourism Development Corporation Limited (ITDC) hotels and properties, and its joint ventures with the state governments, and where state governments were not agreeing to the proposal of leasing / sub-leasing, the properties may be returned to the state governments at its officially valued price. The policy envisages that running and managing hotels on professional lines is not the job of government or its entities.
The Cabinet committee Wednesday also approved the transfer of Hotel Patlipura Ashok project to Government of Bihar.
The ITDC has to date transferred Hotel Lake View Ashok, Bhopal; Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati; Hotel Bharatpur Ashok, Bharatpur; Hotel Janpath, New Delhi (to Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs); Hotel Lalitha Mahal Palace, Mysore; Hotel Donyi Polo Ashok, Itanagar and Hotel Jaipur Ashok, Jaipur to the concerned state governments.
