Vigilance registers case on alleged fraud in funds of Pahari speaking students in Tangdar

Srinagar: Vigilance organization Kashmir Wednesday registered a Case FIR No 32/2018 U/S 5(1)(c), 5(1) (d), r/w 5(2) P.C Act Svt; 2006 and Section,468,471, 120-B RPC about alleged fraud/embezzlement in scholarship funds of Pahari speaking/Gujjar Bakarwal students in education department zone Tangdar of District Kupwara.

The registration of the instant case was the outcome of a verification conducted by the organization which looked into the allegations of Fraud/embezzlement in scholarship funds of Pahari speaking/Gujjar Bakarwal students in education department zone Tangdar of District Kupwara during the financial year 2010-11.

The enquiry according to a statement revealed that during the Year 2010-11, ZEO Tangdar by abusing his official position  in connivance with dealing clerks of ZEO Office Tangdar & others, under a well knit conspiracy have fraudulently inflated the figures of beneficiary students and thus obtained the excess funds from CEO Kupwara on account of Gujjar Bakerwal & pahari speaking student scholarships, and later on by fraudulently inserting fake / fictitious names of non existing students in the acquaintance rolls maintained with regard to disbursement of scholarship funds , have withdrawn the said excess amount and misappropriated the same thereby causing loss to state exchequer against wrongful gain among themselves.

As per the statement the enquiry has further revealed that during the period 2010-11 scholarship funds have been disbursed fraudulently under a well knit conspiracy by the then ZEO Tangdar Mohd. Ashraf Bhat and concerned dealing clerk namely, Mohd Ashraf Poswal Sr. Assistant & others.

Accordingly a Case has been registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and the Investigation of the case is going on, the statement concluded.
