Pulwama shuts down over rumours of local militant’s killing in Sopore

Pulwama: A spontaneous shutdown is being observed today in this south Kashmir Township after rumours made rounds that one of the two militants killed in Sopore gunfight on Tuesday was a local.

All shops and business establishments observed a spontaneous shutdown after rumours spread in the town this morning that one of the two slain militants was a local from Kangan village of the district, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

At some places, angry youth forced closure of educational institutions.


Earlier in the day, a police spokesperson claimed that the militant whose identity was being ascertained after the gunfight was over, was a top Lashkar commander Abu Maaz.
