Life returns to normal in Bandipora after five-day shutdown

Bandipora: All shops and business establishments have opened while as traffic is plying on the roads as normalcy returned to this north Kashmir district on Wednesday after five days of consecutive shutdown against the killing of five militants in an encounter last week.

All the schools have also opened and students were seen moving towards schools after five days of the continuous shutdown.

Five militants were killed in an encounter Thursday last in an encounter at Shogbaba, Sumlar which continued for two days.  The militants were buried at Gantmulla Baramulla as their identity couldn’t be ascertained.


On Tuesday four families from Kupwara, Ganderbal, Shopian and Kulgam approached Deputy commissioner Bandipora claiming the killed militants as their kin after Hizb identified them in a statement on Monday.

The administration has initiated required formalities in this regard.
