SRINAGAR: To mark the 4th anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission (SWM), Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department of J&K Grameen Bank in collaboration with NABARD conducted 56 ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programmes across the state in various villages of districts Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Samba, Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara.
Expressing appreciation towards the bank staff for making the GoI mission a success, Chairman J&K Grameen Bank, Janak Raj Angural assured that J&K Grameen Bank would contribute in spreading awareness regarding sanitation and hygiene and to make the environment clean and green, an official handout read.
General Manager, J&K Grameen Bank, Romesh Vaid said environmental cleanliness begins with an individual’s desire to be clean. He emphasised on the entire workforce of the bank to “actively join the cleanliness mission”. “167 of our branches have conducted camps in last four days and today, 30 branches have conducted the Swachhta Hi Seva programmes,” he added. 8 programmes were conducted in district Jammu, 12 in district Baramulla, 3 in Kupwara, 3 programmes in district Samba, 2 in district Poonch and 1 programme was conducted in district Rajouri and Kathua.
HOD, Financial Inclusion and Insurance Department, J&K Grameen Bank, Vipan Gupta said every branch of J&K Grameen Bank is conducting ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ programme in their respective villages from 15th September 2018 to 2nd October 2018, spreading awareness regarding the importance of clean environment and the various ways by which the surroundings could be kept clean and green, the handout read.
The rural masses are imparted knowledge regarding better sanitation practices like using a toilet, handwashing, health and hygiene awareness, etc. The activities including cleaning of streets, drains and back alleys and waste collection drives in households and common or shared spaces are also conducted during the programmes, the handout added.
