‘Kashmir dispute holds whole subcontinent hostage’
Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (M) led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday slammed “anti-people” policies of the government in wake of spurt in search operations, arrest of youth, and said “such actions are meant to crush the aspirations of people”.
“The freedom sentiment runs deep in the minds of every citizen of Kashmir and no power can break the resolve of people and the resistance leadership of Kashmir,” the Hurriyat spokesperson said in a statement.
The spokesperson said that the fact remains that Kashmir dispute poses a major threat to peace not for the sub-continent but for the entire south Asia and “accepting the ground realities and taking concrete steps to resolve the vexed dispute will result in the peaceful atmosphere in the whole region”.
The permanent peace, he said, can only be achieved after finding a dignified solution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance to the wishes of people.
The Hurriyat meanwhile paid rich tributes to militants killed in an encounter in north Kashmir’s Sopore and said “their sacrifices will always be remembered as they are the great assets of our nation”.
“People and the resistance leadership are committed to safeguard the blood of martyrs and is duty bound to take their mission to its logical end,” the amalgam said in a statement.
The Hurriyat also condemned the fresh wave of CASOs in south and central Kashmir.
