BUDGAM: A total of 23 candidates filed their nomination papers on Tuesday for polls to the three municipal committees in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Sources said that no nomination has been filed in municipal area of Khan Sahib while in Budgam municipal area, 13 candidates have filed nomination papers. In Chadoora municipal area, 11 candidates filed have nomination papers.
The Budgam municipal area is divided into 7 wards while Khan Sahib and Chadoora municipal areas are divided into 13 wards each.
The elections in these areas are to be held in the first phase on October 8. The last date of filing nominations for these areas was today.
Pertinently, Budgam district has six municipal committee areas, of which three had the last date of filing of nominations today. For the remaining three – Magam, Beerwah and Charar-e-Sharief – the last date for filing nominations is 27th September.
In Beerwah, no one has filed nomination papers as yet, while in Charar-e-Sharief 7 candidates have filed nomination papers so far.
