Srinagar: Daily wagers under the banner of Kashmir PHE Joint employees Association on Monday held a symbolic protest here in Srinagar demanding the release of their pending wages.
Scores of Casual Labours, Daily Wagers, ITI Workers and Land Donors working in Public Health Engineering Department assembled here at the Pratap Park and marched towards Press Enclave.
The Protesting employees blamed the concerned PHE department of holding their wages from more than 21 months.
Chairman of Kashmir PHE Joint employees Association, Sajad Ahmad Parray said that the wages of Daily wagers and ITI workers is pending from last five months and wages of Casual labours and Land donors is pending from last 21 months.
“We want release of our long pending wages. We are facing financial problems due to which the studies of our children have affected. They have stopped going to school”. Parray said.
He also said that even on ‘Eid-ul-Adha’ the government did not release them any wages.
The protesters threatened to block the water supply if government fails to release their pending wages till 26thSeptember.
