SRINAGAR: Senior PDP leader Nizamuddin Bhat has reiterated his demand for establishing the Degree College at Ajas area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Bhat in a statement issued here said that Ajas fulfills the required criteria for higher education facility at doorstep and ignored it will be playing with the career of aspirants of a potential place which is rich in talent but ironically poor in resource.
“This belt despite lack of quality institutions for higher pursuits has provided able professionals who served the state and has a legacy which deserves to be encouraged,” he said. “It is unfortunate that legitimate concerns of Ajas and its adjoining localities comprising Gujjar and fishermen community have not been addressed as and when an opportunity arose.”
The PDP leader said Ajas provides an ideal location for a college with catchment areas well connected to the place both from Sonawari and Bandipora assembly segments.
“Any decision that ignores Ajas will be at the cost of poor and potential and will tantamount to discrimination,” Bhat said.
