JKAACL releases Urdu, Hindi and English translations of Shri Sukhmani Sahib

SRINAGAR: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Monday released Urdu, Hindi and English translations of Shri Sukhmani Sahib, the holy book written by 5th Sikh Guru Arjun Dev Ji Maharaj. The translation has been done by Fazil Kashmiri.
An official statement issued here said the function, organised in the academy’s seminar hall, was presided over by noted poet and writer Ghulam Nabi Khayal, while the poet and writer Sardar Satinder Sing Bajral, prominent Punjabi writer Sardar Kanwal Kashmiri, Syed Zeeshan Fazil and Secretary JKAACL Dr Aziz Hajini were also present.
In his welcome speech, Dr Aziz Hajini said it is the academy’s endeavour to release the translation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib in three languages. This translation will broaden Kashmiri language and enlighten our minds, he said.
In his presidential address, Ghulam Nabi Khayal appreciated Fazil Kashmiri and publishers of the book for their “courageous” efforts to bring the book to the fore. He congratulated JKAACL for organising this “meaningful and purposeful” function.
Ajeet Sing Mastana read out a paper covering various aspects of Shri Suhmani Sahab. Kanwal Kashmiri, Syed Zeeshan Fazil, Bashir Arif, Ayub Sabir, Prof Taskeena Fazil and Sardar Santinder Singh Bajral spoke on the occasion and highlighted various aspects of translation of Sukhmani Sahab. The speakers also remembered their personal association with Fazil Kashmiri.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Zahid Mukhtar and vote of thanks was presented by chief editor JKAACL Mohammad Ashraf Tak.
