Gunfight breaks out in north Kashmir’s Sopore

Baramula: A fierce gun-battle broke out on early Tuesday morning between security forces and militants in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A joint team of Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles, special operations group (SOG)  and CRPF laid a cordon at Nowpora area of Tujjer in Sopore last night and started a cordon and search operation (CASO) witnesses told Kashmir Reader. When the joint team started advances, militants hiding in the area opened fire upon the forces in a bid to break the cordon. This led to outbreak of gun-battle

According to police sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

The internet in the entire area has been suspended fearing protests.
