Bandipora encounter: Shutdown in Shopian over ‘local’ militant’s killing

Shopian: A spontaneous shutdown on Tuesday was observed in this south Kashmir Township after Hizbul Mujahideen statement claimed one of the five militants killed in Bandipora encounter were a local.

All shops and business establishments remained closed while skeletal traffic plied on roads due to a spontaneous shutdown observed in the town today, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Though no militant outfit had called for a strike, the locals observed a shutdown after Hizb statement issued to press on Monday claimed that one of the five militants killed in Bandipora encounter was a Shopian resident Muhammad Umar.
