SRINAGAR: Teachers working under centrally sponsored scheme Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) on Sunday again held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding the benefits of 7th pay commission .
The teachers from various districts of Kashmir assembled here in Partap Park under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar E Taleem Teachers Forum (JKRETTF) and raised the slogans against the state government for not giving them the benefits of 7th pay commission.
The protesters were demanding implementation of the 7th pay commission benefits in their favour.
As the protesting teachers started marching towards Raj Bhawan as per the programme, police used water cannons to disperse them and detained scores of them.
The protestors said that the state government is doing grave injustice with them. “We are working in a permanent post in the education department. We have a proper service book and there are proper service rules for us,” protesting teachers said.
Chairman of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC), Abdul Qayoom Wani said that organized the protest to press for the demand of SSA teachers, Head teachers and RMSA masters for the benefits of 7th pay commission and delinking of their salaries from MHRD budget to state Budget.
“If the state government is giving 7th commission benefits to all employees. Why the government is neglected the demands of the RET Teachers,” protesters questioned.
