SRINAGAR: The annual election to the executive committee of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) was conducted on Saturday here at Kashmir Government Arts Emporium as per the provision of the Articles of Association of the chamber.
According to a statement issued here, of the 1305 members of the chamber 1082 (83%) cast their votes. The votes were cast personally by the registered member concerns. The election process was carried out under the overall supervision of the Election Commission of KCCI consisting of Chairman, Rauf Ahmad Punjabi, members Mubeen Shah, and Abdul Hamid Punjabi. The polling for the election was conducted by the Polling Committee consisting Chairman, Qazi Mohammad Yehya, members G M Dug, Majid Aslam Wafai, Javid Burza, Abdul Majid, Maqsood Misri, the statement read.
The polling process was held in a peaceful and transparent manner, it read further. The process of counting of votes has been started and the result of the poll shall be announced in the 84th annual general meeting of the chamber scheduled to be held on 29th of September at SKICC, Srinagar, the statement added.
The KCCI, in the statement, thanked the management of Kashmir Government Arts Emporium especially the managing director, and police department.
